2021 started with another lockdown for UK businesses, which means that most consumers will continue shopping and searching for services online. If your target audience is the public you will know how important it is to promote your business online. But how do you know if your website and social media channels are optimised to appeal to and convert your target audience, your customers?

You should pay attention to the visual content you are using to explain your brand, expertise, products or service. Using visual media such as your imagery, video, infographic is a highly effective strategy.

According to Hubspot 87% of marketers who use video say that it has increased traffic to their website, and 80% claim that video has directly increased sales. (Wyzowl, 2020) (Source: https://www.hubspot.com/marketing-statistics).

The reality is that customers are turning more to the internet and for ease of consumption are attracted to video content over text.

With the latest smartphones simple videos and images can easily be created and uploaded to your social media and website platforms. However editing can be time consuming and the quality of the videos and imagery can often be poor. In a fast moving and crowded market you want the quality of your videos and imagery to stand out from your competitors.

What kind of videos can you use for your business? Here are just a few suggestions:

  • Commonly asked questions video
  • Employee bio videos for email signatures.
  • Product and service fit videos.
  • Cost and pricing videos.
  • Customer journey videos

There are so many videos which can be used to showcase you, your business, your products and your services. You just need to check out your competition or simply let your imagination run riot!

So how do you create professional looking assets without spending a fortune?

In 2020 Friend and Grant set up its own media services team primarily to prepare material for its own website and social media platforms – educational videos, video client testimonials, better photography. However since then we have also helped several clients with ready-to-publish visual assets for their websites and social media channels.

Here are some examples:

Age UK Medway, is a national charity with a branch in Chatham, which needed help with brand awareness since the lockdown impacted in a decline of donations. Their last video helped raise £40,000. This video, created by F&G Media Services, is now on their YouTube channel and Facebook page.

The owner of Salamander, a fantastic gift shop in Maidstone, wanted to give her customers the opportunity to experience the shop virtually and browse products and this video offers that.

Regardless of your business type, size or resources good video marketing can go a long way. Our Media Services team can help build the right visual inventory suitable for you. Matthew Doyle, who leads the team, offers more than 13 years of experience in the industry including professional headshots, corporate photography, drone imagery, corporate video production and editing. Soon we will start offering support with live streaming and webinars.

Why you should buy new business equipment by the end of 2021

The AIA limit is set to reduce to £200,000 from 1 January 2022. Whereas this limit will still be sufficient for most businesses, there is a significant minority who spend more than £200k each year on new equipment who might be impacted by the change and should consider bringing forward capital asset purchases.
