Our History

Mark’s strong belief then, as it is now, was to provide a high-quality, expert accountancy, taxation and business advisory service matched by excellent personal service. These two principles saw the practice grow rapidly, and in 1995 the practice moved to a ‘proper office’ in Northgate Rochester, Kent.

In 2000 Darren Hughes, one of our current Tax Managers joined the firm. Apart from Jan and Mark, Darren is the longest-serving employee.

Andrew Grant joined the practice in 2003. Like Mark, Andrew believed that clients needed more than just accountants.

Jan Friend and Andrew Grant passed probate exams in 2016, and early the following year Friend & Grant became licensed to provide probate services.

On 9th October 2023 we opened a new office in Kings Hill to aid in our continued growth by increasing our catchment area for new team members, providing a new meeting point for our West Kent clients and increasing our potential market for new clients.

The accounting practice has grown to a team of over 30, all dedicated to ensuring that our clients save tax, save time and create more wealth. Our probate services, business advisory and taxation services continue to grow alongside our accounting and compliance services.
